Learn MoreThis prayer is designed for people to reflect on the significance water plays in our daily lives. There are statements designed to encourage people to reflect on the importance of water in our lives, and to consider the challenges people face around the world to be able to have access to safe water. Images have been used throughout to support the statements. You could use this prayer for World Water Day (22nd March).

This prayer was composed by Bishop Ken Utener of Saginaw, for a homily by Cardinal John Dearden in 1979. The words of the prayer are often attributed to St Oscar Romero, perhaps because they beautifully summarise his philosophy, but they were never spoken by him.
St. Oscar Romero was a Catholic Archbishop who worked towards Social Justice.
St. Oscar Romero is a patron saint of Caritas Internationalis.
