The Women for the World campaign brings Australians together to help empower vulnerable women with the skills and resources they need to take control of their lives and forge their path out of poverty. Women around the world are disproportionately affected by poverty, food insecurity and gender-based violence. According to UN Women, COVID-19 is likely to push an additional 47 million women into poverty by the end of this year.

“Your generosity can support vulnerable women like Aloma in the Philippines, who are striving to create a better future for their families and communities,” said Eleanor Trinchera, Caritas Australia’s Program Coordinator for the Philippines.

“In the Philippines, there are as many as 20 typhoons in a year, and infrastructure can take years to rebuild. Aloma lost her home during Typhoon Santi and afterwards joined the Integrated Community Development Program, supported by Caritas Australia, to learn skills to rebuild her life, including bookkeeping, ecological conservations skills, Disaster Risk Reduction and sustainable farming.”

“These valuable skills not only mean that she’s been able to rebuild her life, but have helped her support her community as well. She has become a community leader, training others so that they can be better prepared to withstand emergencies, including typhoons and the current COVID-19 pandemic.”

“From a life of poverty and hardship impacted by regular natural disasters, Aloma was able to make real and lasting change for herself, her family and her community. By supporting this campaign, you can make a real difference in women’s lives and help them to find a path out of poverty for themselves and their family.”

Your donation today can help empower vulnerable women with the skills and resources they need to take control of their lives and forge their path out of poverty.
