On March 28, 2025, a devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar. Homes have been reduced to rubble, essential infrastructure has collapsed, and entire communities are struggling to access clean water, food, and medical care. Over 2,700 people are confirmed dead and 3,900 injured, with numbers expected to rise in the coming days and weeks.

At times like this, every moment—and every act of kindness—counts.

Right now, families in Myanmar are facing unimaginable challenges. Many have lost everything and are in desperate need of emergency shelter, clean water, medical aid, and trauma support. Prior to this earthquake, 19.9 million people in Myanmar needed humanitarian support – this disaster is stretching resources to breaking point and exacerbating critical challenges.

Caritas Australia has launched an emergency appeal to support communities affected by this disaster. As part of the global Caritas network, we are working with trusted partners on the ground to provide lifesaving relief to those who need it most.
