As a valued supporter of Caritas Australia, we want to share with you our exciting plans for the new financial year. These upcoming initiatives will shape our journey to creating positive change across the globe. In this blog post, we will provide an overview of our ongoing work, and highlight new projects on the horizon. Together with your support, we can make a lasting impact in the lives of the most vulnerable. Join us as we look toward the future with hope and determination.

Overview of ongoing initiatives:

Before we delve into our future projects, let’s take a moment to reflect on how your support has been transforming lives around the world. Here are some highlights of our ongoing initiatives:

Sustainable development: We work with our partners across the world through community development programs that empower individuals and communities to use their strengths and resources to tackle poverty.

We aim to foster self-reliance and resilience with a focus on:

  • Education
  • Healthcare
  • Livelihood opportunities
  • Gender equality

Overview of upcoming initiatives:

As we enter a new financial year, we will be implementing new programs that address current and emerging challenges. Here are some of our upcoming initiatives:

Strengthening disaster resilience: We will continue to strengthen our disaster response capacity and support communities to adapt to climate change. We can minimise the impact of disasters and save lives by focusing on key areas, including:

  • Early warning systems
  • Training
  • Infrastructure development
  • Disaster Risk Reduction training

Caritas Australia will be working closely with our partners, Caritas Ethiopia and the Ethiopian Catholic Church Social and Development Commission (ECC-SDCO), to assist drought-prone and conflict-ridden regions in the country. We will also be addressing areas where there has been prolonged famine and youth unemployment. This program’s main focus will be on improving the livelihoods and agriculture of zones affected by famine, drought and conflict, specifically targeting women and young people.
