The Power of a Bequest

Leaving a bequest to Caritas Australia is a meaningful way to continue your impact on the world. Even leaving just 1% of your estate can create lasting change for vulnerable communities across the globe. Your generosity can:

Help provide training in sustainable farming and business skills,

ensuring food security and financial independence.

Help provide access to clean water, healthcare,

and trauma counselling to help families stay strong and rebuild their lives.

Equip individuals with vocational training,

empowering them to build sustainable incomes and lift themselves out of poverty.

Caritas Australia is proud to announce that our Free Wills Promotion is back from 17 to 31 March 2025. Our partner SafeWill, one of Australia’s leading online Will-writing platforms, is offering a period of free online Will-writing to Australians who want to safeguard their life’s work and legacy.

Creating a Will is an essential step for people of all ages. A Will ensures that your loved ones and the causes you cherish are protected and cared for. Thanks to our partnership with SafeWill, many Australians have already had the opportunity to create a legally valid Will from the comfort of their own home, in just a few simple steps.

Why write a Will?

Writing a Will is about more than just financial security – it is a way to express your values and ensure that your legacy lives on. It provides peace of mind that your wishes will be carried out and that your loved ones will be looked after. By taking advantage of our free offer, you can create a legally valid Will at no cost.

Your Legacy is Safe with Us

Safewill follows industry-leading best practices to provide a secure, accessible, and legally sound Will-writing experience. Their platform enables users to create a Will online with guidance tailored to their needs.

Each Will is carefully structured using expert-backed templates and undergoes a thorough review process by Safewill’s affiliate law firm, to ensure correct completion and use of the platform by customers.

Safewill also commits to robust security and privacy practises.

Michelle Fernon’s testimony

Michelle is a long-time supporter of Caritas Australia. Inspired by her faith and passion for social justice, she decided to include Caritas Australia in her Will.

I first learned about Caritas Australia when I was a child at school and vividly recall collecting coins for the Project Compassion box.

Giving to Caritas Australia has made me a much happier person. I feel empowered knowing that we’re doing something for the most marginalised.

The sense of concern that I sometimes feel thinking about the poverty and suffering in the world today has been taken away by knowing where my money is going and that it’s going to a good cause.

The last time I get to speak to people most important in my life will be through my Will. I have great faith in Caritas Australia’s ability to end poverty and uphold people’s dignity.

Every country partner and most program participants I have visited in the past few years have told me about the devastating impacts of record droughts and heatwaves, more severe and extreme cyclones, unprecedented flooding, and rising sea levels.
